From December 1 to 31, our online festival showcases European auteur cinema through twelve distinctive films by emerging filmmakers and independent voices. Available to viewers through artekinofestival.arte.tv or directly on arte.tv, this festival invites you to discover, question and participate. That’s right, you can vote for your favourite film!

Notes on a Summer (2023)

Directed by Diego Llorente, this film follows the personal and romantic journey of Marta, a young Spanish woman who returns to her home region during the holidays. She quickly reconnects with Pablo, her childhood sweetheart whom she has never really forgotten. The reunion rekindles her confused and conflicted feelings between her past dreams in Asturias and her new life in Madrid with Leo, the man she is in a relationship with and is about to move in with.

The Night She Moves (2018)

Max and Emma are close, so when she announces she’s moving out, Max is thrown. He spends the night wandering through the streets of Barcelona, adrift in the city’s strange beauty and finding brief connections with strangers along the way. This surreal, existential journey marks Sara Gutiérrez Galve’s feature debut.

Have You Seen This Woman? (2022)

This provocative Serbo-Croatian film is the fruit of a collaboration between directors Dušan Zorić and Matija Gluščević. On a hot summer day, protagonist Draginja discovers a corpse that resembles her. In another life, she hires a fake husband to impersonate her friends. Then on a winter night, she wanders the streets hoping to regain her lost memory. Through three possible lives, a middle-aged woman tries to escape her own skin.

I Have Already Died Three Times (2025)

Actor and director Jacques Nolot recounts the story of his desires, doubts and fears over the course of one day. In this work, memory, dream, and fiction blur together – creating a subtle and deeply personal reflection on the relationship with truth, filmed time and the fleeting nature of lived experience.

Off The Beaten Track (2023)

When doctor and artist Victor Segalen arrives in Tahiti hoping to meet Paul Gauguin, he discovers the painter has died. Numerous exchanges ensue between Seglen and Gauguin’s acquaintances. As women and friends share anecdotes, Segalen begins to develop a posthumous relationship with Gauguin – a proximity that will change him forever.

Fréwaka (2024)

Shoo is sent to a secluded village to care for Peig, an agoraphobic woman living in fear of intrusion. Peig tells Shoo about her fear of the Na Sídhe, dark mythical creatures who she believes abducted her years earlier. Soon, the old woman’s paranoia and superstitions echo Shoo’s own story, forcing her to confront the shadows of her past.

Light As Feathers (2018)

In a village lost in the middle of nowhere, young Eryk lives surrounded by his mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother – three women whose obsession with control and guilt-tripping strategies shape the teen’s world. When he begins a relationship with his 13-year-old neighbour Klaudia, his inability to distinguish love from abuse leads him to impose sexual acts on his girlfriend.

Remember To Blink (2022)

A French couple adopts a brother and sister from Lithuania. They invite Gabriele, a Lithuanian translator, to live with them for a while and help the children adjust to their new environment. Maoussi (2024)

When Babette happens to share her Paris apartment with Edo, a Congolese refugee, Maoussi, a runaway mouse, appears and disrupts their daily life. She inserts herself between the two strangers like an adopted child, forcing them to confront their divergent expectations of love.

Cidade Rabat (2023)

Helena, a 40-year-old film producer, has spent the past years balancing professional and family life while caring for her sick mother. Between moments of light and everyday coldness, Helena navigates her grief and seeks meaning in her life.

Arthur & Diana (2023)

An old rusty Renault, a mandatory vehicle inspection across the border, a brother and sister accompanied by her young son. Who If Not Us (2023)

This intimate documentary portrays the lives of young Ukrainians who grew up amidst war, from the beginning of the Russian occupation in 2014 to the full-scale invasion of 2022. Some are rebellious DJs, others are artists promoting a message of unity. At the heart of their stories is the spirit of a youth with unwavering hope despite adversity.
